There are many online jobs available to people interested in working from home. Typing from home is one such job. Home based typing is work that you can do from home. The only items needed to get started are a telephone, printer and computer with broadband connection.

Home typing jobs began  to flourish in 1995. These jobs continued to grow as the internet became more widely used.  Now over 40000 home based typing jobs are performed every year. An estimated one million of those typists work from home.

The popularity of typing from home jobs is on the rise because of excellent pay packages and flexible working hours. Homemakers, retirees, physically challenged persons and students can do home based typing job, not just the professional telecommuting to the office.

Typing from home work is often more tedious than thought provoking.  A computer typist is required to type the data onto a form or into a database.  Some typists also work in transcription, taking a client’s dictated audio files or those from meetings and turning them into an easy to read document. This can do online or offline, all in from the comforts of your home office.

To find jobs, set up profiles on and regularly check the lists of available jobs on site like freelance.com, Craig’s List and contractedworkers.com.   Some home typists find work by sending out advertisements to law and accounting firms as well as other companies who may have a need for transcription of data entry work. Also, search company job postings, as some companies will only hire freelance and will post an ad when in need of one.

Some legitimate jobs can be found through companies that specialize in finding typing from home jobs. However, if the company asks for money upfront, and there is no way to contact a human employee of that company, then it is probably a scam. Beware, because that home typing job search is riddled with fraudulent job listings.

Home typists are usually paid with either a check or an electronic transfer. These transfers utilize the services of Paypal and other escrow accounts, especially if the company is located in another country. Only accept checks from companies that are established as check fraud is prevalent, especially in the freelance business.

To take typing from home job isn’t difficult, doing a job to the client’s satisfaction often is. You pay attention to the accuracy in your typing, paying attention to grammar and spelling.  Be prepared for retyping in order to produce a document that the client will accept. The client will have deadlines, and it is your duty to ensure that any work is completed and submitted before the deadline. For a freelancer, missing an established deadline is a kiss of death.

Time management is very essential factor in doing this type of internet based job. However, it isn’t necessary to be the fastest typist.  In fact, accuracy is more important than typing speed.  Become computer savvy or well acquainted with certain software programs like Excel, WordPress, MS Word and Note Pad.   Clear conception about net surfing to collect information on typing from home  jobs will definitely help you gain and maintain paying clients.
